Web design and development across Kenya
Haryes Web Developers is a Nairobi-based web design and development agency working with businesses across Kenya. Delivery is remote-first, with on-site meetings where a project needs them. We publish a dedicated page for a town only when we hold real local proof there, so the pages below reflect verified work rather than a list of places we would like to claim.
How we work with clients across the country
Most web design and development work does not require the agency and the client to be in the same room. For a business in Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret or Mombasa, that means the same process, the same standard, and the same price as a business two streets from our Nairobi base.
Discovery
A structured working session that can run in person or over video.
Design
Reviewed on shared Figma files.
Development
On a staging server you can open at any time.
Handover
Sign-off, training and documentation, all written down.
Tier 1: city hub plus service pages
Why our location pages carry a proof bar
The most common way agencies chase local search traffic in Kenya is to generate a near-identical page for every town, each one the same paragraphs with the place name swapped. Google classifies these as doorway pages, and they can drag down the search standing of the entire domain.
- At least two real case studies from clients based in that town
- At least one unique testimonial from a client there
- Genuinely city-specific content: the local business landscape, the dominant sectors, real context
- A city-specific set of frequently asked questions, not the same questions with the name changed
- Unique title, heading, meta description and introduction, not a template with a variable slotted in
Kenya’s regions and what local businesses need online
Kenya is not one market. The digital needs of a Nairobi professional services firm, a Mombasa freight company, a Nakuru agribusiness and a Diani hotel are genuinely different, and a good website reflects that.
- Nairobi & the metropolitan areaThe deepest, most competitive market in the country: Westlands, Upper Hill, the CBD, Industrial Area and the surrounding counties. Performance, search architecture and clear proof matter more here than anywhere else.
- The CoastMombasa, Diani and the coastal strip: tourism, hospitality, freight and coastal trade. Hotels and lodges gain most from a direct booking engine that recovers OTA commission.
- The Lake regionKisumu and the western counties: agribusiness, wholesale trade, fishing and a growing professional-services sector. A clear catalogue and credible company information carry weight.
- Western KenyaKakamega and Bungoma, the sugar-and-tea belt bordering Uganda. Businesses here compete for buyers across the region, not just the town.
- The Rift ValleyNakuru, a chartered city and one of Kenya’s fastest-growing urban economies. Naivasha adds horticulture and tourism; Eldoret anchors the North Rift.
- Mount Kenya & the eastNyeri, Meru, Thika, Machakos and Kiambu: agriculture, agro-processing, manufacturing and trade close to Nairobi. Many sell into Nairobi as well as locally.
How local visibility actually works
Businesses often assume that ranking for a service in a particular town depends on having a website built in that town. It does not. Local search visibility in Kenya rests on a small set of signals.
Google Business Profile
Claimed, complete and accurate: correct category, service area, hours and photos.
Consistent NAP
Name, address and phone byte-identical across the site, the profile and every directory.
Genuine reviews
Real reviews from local customers, responded to, not bought or incentivised.
Local content
Pages that reflect the market you actually serve, not a template with the town name swapped.
Haryes builds these in as part of local SEO, and the structure of a custom web design and development project supports them from the first page.
Two questions we are asked about local work
Does hosting location matter?
- The short answer
- For a Kenyan audience, yes, but not the way people think. There is no need to host in Kenya.
- What actually matters
- Fast delivery to visitors on Kenyan mobile networks, a CDN with edge locations near your audience, proper caching, and a server that is not overloaded.
- How we handle it
- Hosting is provisioned on that basis and included in the handover. See hosting and domains, including
.co.keregistration through KeNIC.
Where should local SEO effort go?
- One location
- Concentrate on that town: one Google Business Profile, consistent citations, real reviews, and content that reflects the local market.
- Several locations
- Premises in several towns can run a profile for each, but only with a real address and real staff.
- The highest-value work
- Not spreading thin across many towns; doing the fundamentals properly in the one or two places that actually matter.
The tier structure
Location pages are organised into three tiers based on how much local work and demand exists, which controls how much detail each page carries.
Tier 1
A city hub plus dedicated pages for individual services in that city. Nairobi is here; Mombasa is planned.
Tier 2
A city hub plus one or two service pages. Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret and Thika.
Tier 3
A single city hub. Nyeri, Machakos, Kiambu, Naivasha, Kakamega, Bungoma, Meru, and Diani & Ukunda.
If your town is not listed
The towns shown on this page are the ones where we currently hold enough local proof to justify a dedicated page. They are not the boundary of where we work.
If you run a business anywhere in Kenya and you need a website built properly (fast, owned by you, structured for search) location is not a barrier. Delivery is remote-first, the process is the same, and the price is the same.

Location questions
Does Haryes Web Developers only work with Nairobi businesses?
No. Haryes is based in Nairobi but works with businesses across Kenya. Project delivery is remote-first (shared staging environments, video calls, and written scopes) with on-site meetings arranged where a project genuinely needs them.
Do you have offices in other Kenyan towns?
Haryes operates from Nairobi. It does not maintain branch offices elsewhere. Work for clients in Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret and other towns is delivered from Nairobi, with travel where the project requires it.
Why don't you have a page for my town yet?
A location page publishes only when it carries genuine local proof: at least two case studies from that town, a local testimonial, and city-specific content. Towns without that proof are listed on this page and get a real page once the proof exists. A thin, templated town page would hurt the whole site's search standing.
Can you help a business in a town not listed here at all?
Yes. The list here reflects where we have enough local proof to justify a dedicated page, not the limit of where we work. Contact us with your requirements regardless of location.
How does local SEO work for a business outside Nairobi?
Local SEO for a Kenyan business rests on a claimed and consistent Google Business Profile, matching name, address and phone details across Kenyan directories, genuine reviews, and content that reflects the local market. Haryes covers this under its local SEO service.
Will a website built in Nairobi rank for searches in my town?
Ranking for local searches depends on local signals (your Google Business Profile, local citations, reviews, and relevant content) not on where the site was built. Haryes builds those signals in regardless of the town.
Do you charge more for clients outside Nairobi?
No. Pricing is scoped to the deliverable, not the client's location. If a project needs on-site travel, that is agreed and quoted separately and transparently before work starts.
Local lens
A Google Business Profile, consistent NAP, real reviews and genuinely local content, the four things that move local rankings.
How local visibility works
Ranking locally is about signals, not your address
A site built in Nairobi ranks for a Kisumu search on local signals, not on where the code was written. We build those signals in from the first page, wherever your business is.
Google Business Profile
Claimed, complete and accurate, the right category, service area, hours and photos.
Consistent NAP
Name, address and phone byte-identical across the site, the profile and every Kenyan directory.
Genuine local reviews
Real reviews from customers in your town, responded to, never bought or incentivised.
Content that fits the market
Pages that reflect the town and sector you actually serve, not a template with the place name swapped in.
