Glossary
Click Depth
The number of clicks from the homepage to a given page. The architecture caps this at three for every node (Architecture Section 3.3).
In plain terms
The number of clicks from the home page to a given page. Pages buried four or five clicks down are crawled less, found less, and usually treated as less important.
It is a structural measure rather than a technical one: it reflects how the site is organised and what the navigation makes reachable.
Why it matters in Kenya
We cap it at three clicks for every page on this site, which is what forces the hub, pillar and spoke structure to stay disciplined rather than growing into a maze.
What to do about it
Four checks you can run on your own site this week.
- Map how many clicks it takes to reach your most commercially important pages
- Promote anything that sells into the main navigation or a hub page
- Use hub pages to flatten deep sections rather than nesting further
- Re-measure after adding a section: depth creeps as a site grows

- Core Web VitalsA set of Google metrics measuring loading performance (Largest Contentful Paint), interactivity (Interaction to Next Paint) and visual stability (Cumulative Layout Shift).
- Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)The time from navigation start until the largest content element in the viewport is rendered.
- Topical AuthorityThe degree to which a website is recognised by search engines as a comprehensive, trustworthy source on a subject, built by covering a topic in connected depth rather than publishing isolated pages.
