Glossary
NAP
Name, Address, Phone number. Keeping these byte-identical across the website, Google Business Profile and every directory is the foundation of local SEO (Architecture Section 2.2).
In plain terms
Name, address, phone number. The three facts that have to match exactly everywhere your business appears, because they are what systems use to decide that two mentions refer to the same organisation.
Exactly means exactly: abbreviations, suite numbers, spacing and formatting all count.
Why it matters in Kenya
It is the cheapest local SEO work available in this market and the most commonly skipped. A business with an old address on two directories and a different phone number on its Facebook page is competing against itself in local results.
What to do about it
Four checks you can run on your own site this week.
- Write the canonical version down once: name, address, phone, exactly as it should appear
- Audit every listing you can find and correct them to match
- Use the same format on the website, in schema and on the Business Profile
- Re-check after any move, rebrand or number change, immediately
