Shopify handles the hard parts. Kenya is not one of them.

Haryes builds and customises Shopify stores for Kenyan merchants, including M-Pesa payment integration, local courier delivery rates, and theme development that keeps the storefront fast on mobile connections.

  • M-Pesa at checkout
  • Local courier rates
  • Theme built, not bought

A global platform meeting a local market.

Shopify is an excellent choice for a Kenyan merchant who wants to sell rather than run servers. Hosting, security, PCI compliance and uptime stop being your problem on day one.

What it does not solve out of the box is everything specific to selling here.

  • M-Pesa is not a built-in payment method, so checkout needs work before it fits how Kenyans pay.
  • Default shipping rates know nothing about Nairobi zones, upcountry couriers or pay-on-delivery.
  • Themes from the marketplace ship with scripts a mid-tier Android phone struggles to load.
  • Apps solve problems individually and then compound into a slow storefront and a monthly bill.

How a Shopify build runs

Five stages, fixed scope and fixed price before anything starts.

  1. Catalogue and structure

Products, variants, collections and the navigation customers will actually use, planned before anything is built.

    A catalogue that can grow.

  2. Theme development

Built on a clean base rather than a heavy marketplace theme, designed around your products and photography.

    A storefront that is yours.

  3. Payments

M-Pesa through the appropriate route for your business, alongside cards where you want them, tested on real transactions.

Checkout that fits how people pay.

  4. Delivery and tax

Zone-based rates matching your couriers, pay-on-delivery where you offer it, and invoicing set up for your obligations.

Orders that cost what you think.

  5. Launch and training

Migration of existing products, redirects from any old store, and a recorded walkthrough for your team.

A store your staff can run.

Where Shopify earns its fee

Four reasons merchants choose it, stated plainly, including what you give up.

  • Nothing to maintain

No server, no updates, no security patching. The platform fee buys back the attention a self-hosted store demands.

    Fewer things to break.

  • Checkout that converts

Shopify's checkout is heavily tested and you cannot break it. That constraint is a feature for most merchants.

    Proven, not bespoke.

  • Honest trade-offs

You rent the platform, you cannot control every URL, and apps add up. We will tell you when WooCommerce suits you better.

    Know before you commit.

  • Speed is still yours to lose

The platform is fast. Themes and apps are where stores get slow, and that is the part we control.

    Built to the budget.

Shopify, or something else?

We will say plainly which fits before you commit to a platform.

Shopify

You want to sell without running infrastructure, and a standard checkout is fine.

WooCommerce

You need control over checkout and data, or lower recurring costs at scale.

Marketplace

Many sellers list on your platform and you take a commission on each sale.

Questions clients ask before they commit

  • Can Shopify take M-Pesa?

Yes, through a payment provider or an integration appropriate to your setup. It is not a default option, so it is part of the build rather than a checkbox, and we test it on real transactions before launch.

  • Shopify or WooCommerce?

Shopify if you want to sell and not maintain anything. WooCommerce if you need control over checkout, custom payment logic or lower recurring costs at volume. We will recommend one before you commit.

  • Do we need lots of apps?

Usually fewer than merchants expect. Each app adds cost and weight, so we build what is core into the theme and keep apps for genuinely specialist jobs.

  • Can you move our existing store to Shopify?

Yes. Products, customers and order history transfer, and every old URL is mapped to a single redirect hop so rankings survive the move.

First store, or replacing one?

First store

You are moving online properly for the first time.

We scope it against your catalogue and your delivery operation.

Already selling

You have a store and it is slow, awkward or on the wrong platform.

Migration keeps the rankings, the customers and the order history.

Shopify removes the infrastructure problem. Everything specific to selling in Kenya is still a build decision.
