KeNIC
The Kenya Network Information Centre, the registry responsible for the .ke country-code top-level domain and its second-level domains including .co.ke.
In plain terms
The Kenya Network Information Centre: the registry responsible for the .ke country-code domain and its second-level domains, including .co.ke. Registrations are made through accredited registrars rather than with the registry directly.
Why it matters in Kenya
Its practical significance is custody. A domain registered through an accredited registrar, in your business name, with your own contact details, is an asset you control. One registered on your behalf by a developer is an asset somebody else controls, and that only becomes visible when the relationship ends.
What to do about it
Four checks you can run on your own site this week.
- Confirm the registrant on your domain is your business, not an individual or agency
- Keep the administrative email address one the business controls permanently
- Record the registrar, the login and the renewal date somewhere findable
- If the domain is held by someone else, move it before you need to

- Information GainThe extent to which a page adds something (data, analysis, first-hand experience) not already available on the pages already ranking.
- Query CannibalisationWhen two or more pages on the same site compete for the same head query, splitting link equity and confusing search engines about which to rank.
- Orphan PageA page with no internal links pointing to it.
